As we prepare for the summer of 2025, TAILHIGH recently completed the final field test of our first summerwear product: the Go2 Cooling Guard Top.

This cooling top will be available in three refreshing colors: Baby Blue, Melon Green, and Cherry Pink.

In response to the increasingly intense summer heat each year, TAILHIGH has tirelessly searched for the ideal fabric, going through multiple material changes and sample iterations. Even the smallest details were not overlooked, all to improve the comfort and cooling performance for our canine friends.

This field test was designed to simulate active summer conditions and to confirm the top’s cooling functionality just before its official launch.

🌿 Finding the True Summer Solution for Dogs

A safe and comfortable summer walk for dogs isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. That’s why this final field test of the Go2 Cooling Guard Top evaluated various factors:

• Body temperature changes during wear

• Comfort and mobility

• Fabric responsiveness

• Cooling duration and consistency

🌡️ Temperature Test Results

A key function of the Cooling Guard Top is its ability to regulate a dog’s body temperature. Using an infrared thermometer under consistent test conditions (time, location, and temperature), we observed the following:  

This demonstrates an average body temperature reduction of 10°C simply by wearing the top—and up to 14°C when the top is wet.

The secret lies in the fabric’s PCM (Phase Change Material) technology. This space-grade material, originally developed by NASA for spacesuits, automatically absorbs and releases heat to stabilize temperature. When embedded in fibers, PCM helps maintain thermal balance between external heat and body temperature—creating a reliable cooling effect.

🪶 Weight & Comfort

The Go2 Cooling Guard Top is made using Hyosung’s Aero Cool ultra-light cooling fabric and high-elasticity stretch material, specially selected to support active movements. The M size weighs approximately 80g (excluding pouch).

The fabric is sheer, cool to the touch, and stretchy in all directions, allowing for a snug yet non-restrictive fit. Whether the dogs were running, sitting, or lying down, they showed no signs of discomfort or hindrance in movement.

However, we noted that on particularly slender or chubby dogs, the extremely lightweight fabric occasionally bunched up along the back during movement. While this didn’t interfere with activity, it did affect the visual fit depending on body shape.

💧 Maximizing Cooling Through Usage

Although effective on its own, the Cooling Guard Top works even better when dampened with water before wear. 

In that state, the snowflake-patterned PCM layer becomes more visible, enhancing both the visual and physical cooling impression.

⚠️ Caution During Use: When fully soaked, the added water weight can cause slight sagging in the back area. Be sure to wring out excess water before dressing your dog to maintain optimal fit and comfort.
